Helping Hands of Marion County is gathering toys for children as Christmas draws near.

Its second-annual “Gift of Love for God’s Children” effort will help families who wouldn’t otherwise be able to give toys to their children. Toys can be picked up at Helping Hands beginning 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10. The event will continue until all toys are gone. Families may get one toy for each child, from newborns to age 18. Kathy Miller, a coordinator of the effort, says families might not be able to provide toys or may not be eligible for other programs and Helping Hands just wants to be there for them. The public is encouraged to donate new and gently used toys. Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Helping Hands in Knoxville. Donations must be received by Friday, Dec. 9. For more information contact Miller at 641-842-6933.
