Pella cruised to a pair of non-conference victories last night at Ballard, with the girls winning 49-23 and the boys coming out on top 70-53.

In the opener, the #1 Lady Dutch trailed 12-6 with just under three minutes to go in the first quarter. They closed the frame with a 10-0 spurt, then started the second quarter on a 13-0 run to pull away.

Pella then started the second half on a 16-0 run that stretched into the early stages of the fourth. All told, it was a 39-2 run for Pella to earn the first victory over the Bombers in program history.

Kiara Bradley had 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Lady Dutch. Ciara Buchheit chipped in 11 points, Annika Pingel added 9, and Emily Holterhaus had 6 rebounds.

Suffocating Ballard defense kept the boys game close in the first half, with Pella clinging to a 25-23 lead at intermission.

The second half was a different story, with the Little Dutch racing out of the third quarter gate with an 8-0 run, and outscoring the Bombers 20-7 overall in that critical frame.

Eleven different Pella players scored last night, led by Drew Pringle and Kobe Diers with 11 each. Donovan Holterhaus had 10 and Nick Finney snatched 7 boards as the Little Dutch out-rebounded Ballard 32-20 for the game.

Both the Pella girls and boys are 3-0 on the season, and will play at cross-town rival Pella Christian this Friday night.
