Playing one of their better defensive efforts of the year and playing without Chase Larson, the Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad took down Chariton last night 56-47. The Panthers swarmed the Chargers in the first half only allowing 15 points in the first 16 minutes of the game. The Chargers did get it down to seven at one points, but Ben Wallace made the game clinching black with less than a minute left to help seal the win. Coach Jeff Larson told KNIA/KRLS the defensive effort along with players stepping up was nice to see. Cade McNeill led the Panthers with 15 points and Trent Davis scored 13. Knoxville improves to 4-1 on the season and is in a first place tie with Centerville at the top of the South Central Conference at 3-0. The girls fell to Chariton 58-35. The Chargers raced out to an 18-5 lead after one quarter, but Knoxville kept at it and got the lead down to nine but could get no closer. Katie Keitges scored 14 points as Knoxville falls to 2-4 on the season and 1-2 in the conference. The Panthers travel to Davis County on Tuesday.
