The Pella Tour of Homes provided a big boost to the Pella economy during one of the peak retail times of the year in the community.

Pella Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Jill Vandevoort tells KNIA/KRLS News over 2700 bought tickets to view four homes decorated for the holidays last weekend. Vandevoort says there was once again a big influx of visitors as a result, and local businesses felt the impact. Each year, the Pella CVB partners with volunteers and homeowners in the community to feature four homes that are each decorated for Christmas.

For three days in December, people purchase tickets to view said homes. Vandevoort says the Dutch coffee time at the newly-renovated Pella Opera House saw among the largest crowds ever for the post-tour event. She estimates the event generated nearly $760,000 in economic impact overall.
