Knoxville’s Helping Hands food pantry is asking the community for help this holiday season as they try to fill Christmas food baskets for needy families.

Chuck Galeazzi with Helping Hands says more than 100 turkeys are needed to fill Christmas orders. KNIA/KRLS and the Knoxville Hy-Vee have answered the call and are donating 50 turkeys to the effort. KNIA/KRLS General Manager Jim Butler hopes businesses and individuals around the community will add to the total and give holiday cheer to even more families. Helping Hands hopes to fill all the orders by Tuesday so they can be distributed on Wednesday. Galeazzi says eating a good meal around the table with family and friends is special privilege that should be extended to as many people as possible during this season of giving.
