Tax season is set to begin in January.
Brett Nikkel is a professional CPA with Van Maanen, Siestra, Meyer & Nikkel in Pella, and says taxpayers should begin to prepare for filing.
“There are a lot of good things you can be doing before the end of the year to improve your tax situation,” he says. “The biggest thing is always think about your charitable giving–make sure anything that you’re planning on giving gets done before the end of the year.”
Nikkel says to also review retirement contributions ahead of the April 18th deadline and to have most documents prepared before scheduling an appointment.
