Pella basketball alumni will be lacing up their sneakers for charity.

A special “Pinky Swear” game is scheduled on Friday, December 30th at 6 p.m. Mary Core works for the Pinky Swear organization and is coordinating this event to raise money and awareness for an organization started by a family of a young boy with terminal cancer.

“Pinky Swear Foundation is a newer non-profit to Iowa, but we have already made a huge impact on families across the state and the economy in the last two years,” Mary says. So far in 2016, they’ve already helped 50 families with financial support who have a child battling cancer.

“The community has really embraced the work we do in partnering to help families who have a child battling cancer,” she says. “We work with the other non-profits that support these families and fill a niche they are not able to through financial support. We fund basic needs – rent and mortgage payments, travel expenses, daycare and groceries when these families need the help most – which is immediate.”

Tickets cost five dollars each, with all proceeds going to Pinky Swear. There will also be concessions and gear available to raise money for the organization. Hear more about the Pella alumni Pinky Swear game on today’s In Depth with Dr. Bob Leonard.
