The Pella City Council held a public hearing about an ordinance expanding allowable uses in the downtown business district at their meeting last night.
A first reading of the proposal was held in which pet services would be added to zoning uses with a special use permit in downtown Pella. The request came from Christy Dykstra, who would like to open a pet bakery and specialty store.
A second reading of an ordinance adding stop signs to the intersection of Hazel and Elm Streets was also passed and adopted. The new signage will likely be in place by the middle of next week.
