The Little Hawkeye Conference boy’s basketball season is living up to the preseason competitive hype after just three league games.
Dallas Center Grimes is the only team to make it through at 3-0, with Pella Christian, Pella and Newton all 2-1, Oskaloosa, Grinnell and Norwalk at 1-2 and newcomer Indianola looking for its first win at 0-3.
After Larry Hessing’s Pella Christian Eagles knocked off the Indians earlier this week, he was asked about just how difficult the league is if 5-A Indianola is presumably the weakest link.
“Everybody said that this Little Hawkeye Conference is a gauntlet, and I think the question that was asked a couple of weeks ago of me was ‘Where is Indianola going to find a W?’. And that’s not to disparage Indianola; they’re not that bad of a team. This conference is just tougher than nails. You better be there every night because it’s going to be tough.”
Little Hawkeye Conference action will resume after the holidays with a full slate of games set for Friday, January 6th.
