A one-vehicle rollover accident occurred just before 6:00 a.m. yesterday morning.
The accident was located south of Attica near the 188th Ave. and Highway 5 intersection. One male was trapped in the rolled over vehicle and had to be extracted. Agencies responding were the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Indiana Township Fire Department, Knoxville Township Rural Fire Department and Knoxville Fire and Rescue. Highway 5 was blocked for approximately 1 ½ hours while crews worked to free the trapped man. Officials say the man was conscious and talking while being rescued before being transported. Sheriff Jason Sandholdt tells KNIA/KRLS News fire and rescue personnel did a great job extricating the man in difficult and dangerous circumstances. Icy road conditions may have played a role in the crash.
