The Pleasantville Trojans drop a boy girl doubleheader inside the Pleasantville high school gym on Tuesday the girls fell to the Cardinals 71-9 and the boys fell 50-48 in overtime.
In the girls game the Cardinals completely dominated the Trojans leading at the half 53-3 before cruising to the finish. The boys game was the complete opposite as the Trojans would lead throughout the game despite playing without their best player in Brady Elder who was out due to an appendicitis. The Trojans would lead by 11 at half 27-16 after a last second three point shot by Grant Fouch. The Cardinals would battle back in the second half only being down five at the start of the 4th quarter before forcing overtime tied 43-43. The Trojans and Cardinals would trade the lead back and forth before the Cardinals top player Carter Boothe would put the Cardinals up 50-48 with 7 seconds left. The Trojans would get one last attempt but could not get a shot off in time and would fall in their third straight loss and first loss of 2017. Head Pleasantville Basketball Coach Joel Allman knew his guys were tired coming off the winter break but was hoping they could just get through the overtime. The Trojans will try to get their first wins of 2017 this Friday as they head to Nodaway Valley for a boy girl doubleheader inside the Nodaway Valley high school gym.
