Knoxville’s nation-leading Coaches Versus Cancer fundraiser will hold its ninth year’s special event Saturday, January 21.

Knoxville Girl’s Basketball Coach Jim Uitermarkt, who organizes the event each year along with his wife Angie, tells KNIA/KRLS News they are still seeking silent auction items for the night. Uitermarkt says the silent auction usually features around 200 items and says the contributions made throughout the event show what a caring community Knoxville is. The day will begin early with Alumni basketball games starting around 9:00 a.m. and continuing until the silent auction and varsity basketball games. A check will also be presented to Uitermarkt from the runners of the Knoxville Cancer Relay for the amount they raised in October. The Coaches Versus Cancer presentation will be held between the girls’s and boys’s basketball games against Pella Christian and can be heard live on 95.3 FM and 1320 AM KNIA. The basketball broadcast begins at 6:00 p.m. with the women’s game.
