The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hosted a pair of meetings Thursday to help determine future water control plans for Lake Red Rock and the Des Moines River Basin.

Chief of the Hydrology Branch for the Rock Island District Kevin Landwehr tells KNIA/KRLS News the Army Corps is in the process of gathering information from the public and others sources about current uses along the water basins feeding into Saylorville and Lake Red Rock.

Landwehr says there is typically a review every decade of the water regulation manual, which regulates the use of the Red Rock Reservoir for flood control purposes. Since the last manual update, he says there have been significant changes along the watershed. Hear more about the Red Rock water control scoping meeting on today’s Let’s Talk Pella.
