Placing in the top eight in 11 different events was enough to push the Central College men’s indoor track and field team to a third-place finish at the Wartburg Select meet on Saturday.

A successful day in the 800 meter run saw three Dutch runners finish within the top eight. Mark Fairley led the way by taking second, with Jon Specht fifth and Kyle Pape seventh.

Specht also finished fourth in the mile, and Fairley and Pape were a part of the second-place distance medley relay team.

For the Central women, Sophomore Rachel Peter of PCM ran a pair of strong middle-distance races as the Dutch finished seventh as a team.

Peter unleashed a career-best time of 2 minutes, 24.71 seconds in the 800-meter run to place eighth. She just missed on a new personal best in the mile, coming in fifth in 5:25.40.
