Habitat for Humanity is celebrating 20 years and 50 homes in Marion County this weekend.

Former Congressman Leonard Boswell will be in attendance this Saturday at Central College. Congressman Boswell participated in the very first Habitat Fundraiser in Knoxville 20 years ago as the housing program was just beginning in Marion County.

Joining Congressman Boswell will be Jay Byers, Boswell’s legislative aide at that time. Byers now serves as the CEO of the Greater Des Moines Partnership.

Darrell Sarmento with Habitat for Humanity of Marion County says the evening not only serves as a celebration of what the organization has accomplished, but as a way for the community show support and get involved.

The 20th Anniversary Celebration for Habitat for Humanity of Marion County will take place at the Graham Conference Center at Central College from 5:30-8:30 PM. The evening will include highlights of Habitat’s history and milestones in Marion County along with a catered dinner, silent auction, and volunteer awards.
