There has been a lot of flip-flopping in the middle of the men’s standings of Iowa Conference basketball the last few weeks. Two teams that have been caught up in the heart of everything, Central and Simpson, will square off this afternoon. Simpson won on Wednesday and the Dutch lost, so at the moment, the Storm are the number four seed, while Central is fifth. With three games left to go, the winner of this game more than likely will host the other in the first round of the Iowa Conference tournament a week from this Tuesday. The Storm prevailed on their home court against Central back on January 18th in the waning moments, 64 – 63.

Both the Central and Simpson women suffered losses three nights ago, but perhaps none more brutal than the latter. The Storm blew a 20-plus point lead to Dubuque in their loss. Central’s two league wins have only come against the Spartans. The score was 80 – 51 when these two schools met less than a month ago.

It’ll be a three-man broadcast this afternoon live on 92.1 KRLS, AM 1320 and FM 95.3 KNIA, KNIAKRLS.com, and our KNIA and KRLS mobile apps. Cory Houser, Andrew Swadner, and Jacob Dreyer will provide some semblance of play-by-play, with the PellaMotors.com Radio Pregame show starting at 1:45, and the women’s game set to tip-off at 2:00.
