Of the fourteen area wrestlers that competed on day two of the Iowa State High School Wrestling tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines yesterday, thirteen will wrestle on championship Saturday. Of those thirteen however, only three have their eyes on a state championship.

In class 3A, heavyweight Eagan Lickiss of Indianola defeated Pella grappler Keegan Poole to punch his ticket to the finals, Poole will wrestle in the consolation round this morning. Other class 3A wrestlers still going in the consolation rounds from Indianola are Kobey Pritchard at 113lbs, Connor Sexton at 120lbs, Lance Runyon at 132lbs, and Kade Kolarik at 170lbs.

Xavier Miller of PCM headlines class 2A at 145lbs, as the senior grappler is competing for a state championship this morning after advancing on a pair of decision wins. PCM’s Lucas Roland is also still alive in the 160lb consolation bracket, while Knoxville’s Matthew Landsberger picked up a win by fall at 195lbs to also stay alive in consolation action. PCM’s Jarron Trausch lost both of his bouts today and was eliminated.

A state final competitor from Pleasantville headlines class 1A for area wrestlers, as 220lb wrestler Chaz Clark won 9-7 and 10-3 to advance to the championship round. Pleasantville’s Sawyer Phillips at 152lbs, Griffen McBride at 160lbs, and Will Anthony at heavyweight would all stay alive in consolation bracket action with wins today as well.
