Competing Friday and Saturday at the University of Dubuque, the Central College men finished second and the women took fifth at the Iowa Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The host Spartans took the men’s title, ending Central’s two-year reign as champions.

Dutch freshman Will Daniels won the heptathlon with the 11th best time in the nation so far in 2017. Senior Logan Mulford was Central’s other men’s champion, maintaining his stranglehold on the conference high jump crown.

On the women’s side, newcomer Nebraska Wesleyan ended Wartburg’s string of 14 straight championships.

Central’s best finish was a runner-up performance by defending champ Lorell Stuht in the weight throw.
