The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union’s Executive Director’s Award is presented each year to an individual or organization that has made a notable contribution toward the enhancement of the experience for Iowa girls in high school activities.

Monroe’s Kathy Enyart is the 2017 recipient of the Executive Director’s Award. The Central College graduate will be honored at halftime of the Class 2A State Championship Game on Friday, March 3.

Kathy is the Executive Director of the Iowa State Dance Team Association. She has been the coordinator of the always-popular All-Iowa Honor Dance Team shows that have been a part of the Girls State Basketball Tournament for 35 years. In addition to her work with the All-Iowa Dance Team, Kathy has helped organize the many dance teams that perform all week at the state tournament. She is the co-producer of the Iowa State Dance Team Association Championship Show, which airs annually on Iowa Public Television.

Kathy is a charter member of the Iowa State Dance Team Association and has witnessed its growth over the past 41 years. This past December the State Competition involved 270 high school teams and 26 college dance teams. With over 5000 dancers competing, the Iowa State Dance Team competition is the largest state dance team competition in the nation.

While serving on many adjudication panels and national committees, her devotion toward Iowa dance has led to many honors. Kathy was the charter recipient of the ISDTA and National Dance/Drill Team Directors of America Lifetime Membership Awards. Kathy has been recognized nationally and regionally for her work and, in 2011, she was honored with the Iowa Dance Theatre Performing Arts Award presented by the Iowa Dance Theatre for her outstanding dedication to dancers in Iowa. She has also been recognized with an Outstanding Alumni Award from her alma mater, Central College.

She and her husband Doug are the parents of two children; Scott and Andrea. They are also proud grandparents to Hannah, Zoe, Anderson and Leilani.
