During the Knoxville City Council meeting on Monday the council held a public hearing to discuss the 2017 Street Improvements Project.

The council was informed that only two bids had been received for the project and both bids had come in at over 30% of what the city had estimated for the project. Due to the overage the city decided to reject both bids. City Manager Aaron Adams tells KNIA/KRLS News the DOT will now relet the project and start the bid process over in hopes of finding a closer price the city can afford. The council was originally hoping to start construction in early spring but now could wait till late summer to begin.
