The City of Pella Community Services Department and the South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency are partnering to help residents dispose of materials otherwise that shouldn’t be thrown away.

Jennifer Frampton with the SCISWA says a Hazardous Household Waste Drop Off will be held on Saturday, April 1st from 9 a.m. to noon at the Public Works Complex on Truman Road.

Pella Community Services Director Jeanette Vaughan tells KNIA/KRLS News an ecycling event for residents is scheduled for Saturday, April 29th at Pella Corporation from 9 to noon.

For ecycling: Older CRT monitors and TVs (those with tubes) will be accepted this year as follows: The first two CRTs per vehicle will be accepted at no charge, each CRT over two will be charged $10 each. There is no charge for any other items accepted at the event. Acceptable items include: Computer Monitors, PCs, Laptops, TVs, Cell Phones, Keyboards, Printers, Cameras *No appliances, microwaves, light bulbs, paint or oil! Donations will be accepted and proceeds will be used to promote environmental stewardship through a grant program available to non-profits. All items must be dropped off during the event. Due to federal regulations, we are not able to accept items from businesses, schools, churches or other organizations.
