The Central College women’s golf team won the Iowa Conference tournament last fall, locking up a berth at this spring’s NCAA Nationals.

It’s the first time in Tim Wilkinson’s seven years that the Dutch have qualified for the postseason, and he says that it makes for a more intense spring journey.

“Typically our approach is that we’re going to use the spring to get ready for next fall. The spring is great, but minus the national championship tournament, you’re playing a full schedule but there’s nothing really at the end of it. This year, it’s a little different for them, and that’s exciting. We want that to be the norm.”

The Dutch are already one-for-one this year, having won the rain shortened Graceland Invitational last weekend.

They head to the Bent Tree Golf Club in Council Bluffs for a 36-hole tournament this Sunday and Monday.
