The “Home Rule” bill that has gathered attention in recent weeks is currently being looked at by state Senator Amy Sinclair.

The bill would allow school districts more local control such as adding fees to help make up for lower state funding. Senator Amy Sinclair tells KNIA/KRLS News she is currently drafting an amendment to the bill that would not allow fees toward a student’s requirements for their mandatory education. The current bill would allow school districts to potentially add fees for parking, classroom celebrations, graduation costs, and insurance for technology.
