Seventeenth ranked Central College plays host to number 10 Wisconsin-Eau Claire this afternoon in a non-conference Division III softball showdown.
Both teams are perennial playoff contenders, and Dutch Coach George Wares knows that today’s twinbill could come in to play when postseason bids are handed out in just over a month.
“We’re excited about it, and that’s why it was important to win two last weekend against St. Ben’s and win two on Tuesday at Grinnell. We’re not talking to our players about a split, we always want to win two, but we’re in a position if we do get a split we’re not in bad shape. We’re always excited to play a team that good and I think our fans will enjoy watching them play. They’re a legitimate tenth in the country right now.”
First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for two o’clock this afternoon. Trevor Castle and Andrew Schneider will call the action live on 92.1 KRLS, beginning with pregame coverage at 1:45.
