Pitcher Karly Olson silenced a red-hot Wartburg College offense with a one-hit shutout in game one of a sweep for the No. 17-ranked Central College softball team Tuesday, winning 4-0 and 10-1 in six innings.

Olson (8-2) carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning and faced just 25 hitters against a Wartburg offense that had scored 43 runs in its previous four games.

“Karly pitched really well,” coach George Wares said. “Wartburg’s got so much speed at the top of the lineup and their 3-4-5 (batters) are legitimate power hitters, but she handled them well and the defense made some really good plays behind her.”

Central pounded out 11 hits in the nightcap against the Knights, belting a season-best three home runs from Olson, Emily Wilson, and Tabitha Taylor. The 20-4 Dutch are traveling to Indianola Saturday to tackle Simpson College for a 1 p.m. league twinbill, which can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS, kniakrls.com, and the free KRLS mobile app.
