The Pella City Council approved a pair of resolutions revolving around electric improvements at their meeting Tuesday evening.
They reviewed and approved a contract for a project adding three underground feeder lines to the West Electric Substation. The council also set a public hearing date to purchase additional materials for the same project for their next meeting on April 18th.
Following regular business, the council discussed the growing demand for additional housing in the community and potential strategies for addressing the need during policy and planning. City staff had a presentation highlighting the lack of available housing in the Pella area, citing a need to grow the current 5400 households by 18 percent in the next eight years, and ways to incentive developers to build at current available lots near developments, including potential tax abatements.
