Two games with clutch hitting lead Dubuque in a doubleheader sweep over the Simpson Storm baseball team yesterday afternoon in a pair of games heard live on AM 1320 and FM 95.3 KNIA.

In game one, the Storm held firm defensively, only allowing a trickling of Dubuque runs throughout the game before three runs in the eighth gave Dubuque a 7-0 lead that put the game out of reach. The Storm had seven hits, but could not get the clutch hit that was necessary.

In game two, the Storm quickly took a 4-1 lead capitalizing on three Spartan errors, but a depleted Storm pitching staff couldn’t hold the lead giving up four runs in the bottom of the sixth then three more in the eighth. The Storm fall to 5-18 on the season, and next play on Tuesday at home against Wartburg.
