A Knoxville girl recently had her wish granted through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Eight-year-old Caylee Pettyjohn suffered a stroke when she was just ten months old. The stroke occurred in Caylee’s left middle cerebral artery, which affected the blood supply to the left side of her brain. This resulted in an additional diagnosis: hemiplegia, meaning the right side of her body suffered from severe weakness.
When Caylee turned five she began experiencing seizures that couldn’t be controlled with medication. The seizures caused her doctors to recommend surgery at age six to disconnect a portion of her brain. The surgery stopped the seizures, but Caylee has been working since then to regain functional use of her right hand. The Make-A-Wish foundation contacted Caylee and her family this past fall.
Caylee was given the chance to make a wish, and that wish was to meet the Green Bay Packers and her favorite player Ha Ha Clinton Dix. Caylee’s wish was granted this past September as she and her family were taken to Lambeau Field in Green Bay. During her visit to Lambeau Field, Caylee met Ha Ha Clinton Dix, played catch with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, hung out with other Packer players and was given tickets to the September 25th game in which the Packers beat the Lions 34-27.
