Iowa’s top academic students were recently honored at the 15th Annual Governor’s Scholar Recognition Ceremony.

The event was held this past Sunday at the Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines. Eight students from around the Lake Red Rock area attended Sunday’s event. The eight students recognized were Catherine Kamerick from Melcher-Dallas, Colton Spaur from Twin Cedars, Scott Molloy from Knoxville, Morgan Thorpe from Pleasantville, Rachel Stafford from PCM, Bellara Huang and Jason Seo from Pella High, and Hanna Vos from Pella Christian. Every student honored during the event received a photo plaque of themselves with Governor Branstad and Lt. Governor Reynolds and a certificate to commemorate their achievement.

In addition, each student’s most influential teacher also received a certificate of appreciation. The ceremony was presented by the Governor’s Office, the Iowa High School Athletic Association, and the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation.
