Soil and Water Conservation week is this week.
When it comes to water and soil conservation Marion County is among the leaders in the state. Soil Conservationist, Nathan Rahe tells KNIA/KRLS News Marion County was the first to have a soil and water conservation district in the state and continues to be a leader. Rahe adds, he believes Marion County landowners continue to innovative. According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, Soil and Water Conservation week is a week designated to bring recognition to conservation efforts across the state and the ongoing work by farmers, landowners and urban residents to protect our water resources. Soil and Water Conservation week began on Sunday, April 30th and will run until Sunday, May 7th.
