While the veterans ruled the night in the 360 and 410 classes at the Knoxville Raceway Saturday night, it was a young gun that stole the show in the 305s. Ryan Leavitt never got to see his grandfather, Eddie race or win his two Knoxville Nationals, but for the first time in decades, a Leavitt made the right turn into victory lane in only his second race at the Knoxville Raceway. After three false starts, Leavitt led the entire race to win his first career A at the track. Clint Garner benefited from Ryan Roberts’s misfortune with two laps to win his 29th career 360 race, and Ian Madsen continues to have likely his greatest season of his career by winning the 410 A. Leading for most of the way he had to battle fellow Australian Lynton Jeffery at the halfway mark when the two swapped leads. Madsen took the lead for good on lap 11 but had to hold on for dear life when he got held up by a lapped car and runner-up Brian Brown nearly passed out of the fourth turn.
