A representative from the Iowa Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy as well as a Partnership for a Drug-Free Iowa President Peter Komendowski, along with the Iowa National Guard Counter-Drug Program and a US Department of Justice Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa representatives held two public listening posts in Knoxville Tuesday.

The purpose of the listening posts were to hear directly from citizens about top community concerns, needs, and solutions related to illegal drug activity impacting Iowa youth. Community members listened to different drug issues affecting Marion County and discussed different ideas on how to combat the problems. Marion County Sheriff, Jason Sandholdt tells KNIA/KRLS News anytime people can discuss ideas and educate one another about the different issues they might be facing can help Marion County. Two listening posts were held for Marion County residents with the first taking place as the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum during the afternoon. And the second taking place at the ISU Extension Office in the evening.
