The Lady Dutch tennis team has aspirations of qualifying for state as a team, but before they attempt to do so this weekend, some of their top players earned spots in the individual tournament yesterday.

Pella’s Brooke Jorgensen and the doubles pair of Bronwyn Metcalf and Cecily Johnson were champions of the regional hosted at Pella Christian High School.

Lily Roozeboom also earned her third-consecutive state trip finishing second to Jorgensen head-to-head in the finals. Pella Head Coach Josh McCollam was satisfied with the performance of the entire team and the growth the program continues to make.

Roozeboom was locked into a fierce battle in the semifinals with Pella Christian’s Andrea Carballo, who finished 3rd overall after dropping the match with Lily 7-6, 6-4 and winning the consolation match. Avery Neer and Jenae Kaster of Knoxville finished 3rd in the doubles bracket.

The Lady Dutch have a chance to qualify for state as a team on Saturday, when they take on Ballard at Ankeny High School to make it to the round of eight. Pella defeated the Bombers 9-0 to kick off the season. The season is now over for the Pella Christian and Knoxville girls tennis teams.
