Both Mustang baseball and softball squads move to 2-0 on the season with victories over Heart of Iowa Conference rival Roland-Story last night, the baseball team winning 5-2 and the softball squad getting the shutout 6-0.

Derek Brown got the start and the win on the mound, going five innings and striking out eight. The Mustangs balanced offense led the whole way, with Ethan Thomas going 2-2 on the night with a walk. On the softball side, Kayle Jennings was stellar in the circle going the whole way picking up the win with six strikeouts and only allowing five hits. Katie Vande Wall hit a three run home run, while Courtney Bridges went 2-3 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI. The baseball team next plays tonight at home against East Marshall, while the softball squad waits until Friday night to host conference rival Saydel.
