The second annual Helmets and Hotdogs event will take place Friday in Knoxville.

Lt. Aaron Fuller with the Knoxville Police Department tells KNIA/KRLS News kids are going to be outside more and they are going to be riding their bikes on sidewalks and roads and they need to know how to stay safe and watch for cars, and cars need to watch for them. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. and run until 1 p.m. and will take place in the parking lot across from the Knoxville Public Library. Lt. Fuller also says that two bikes will be given away during the event. Representatives with Marion County Public Health will be giving a “protect your melon demonstration” as well as providing a hot dog lunch during the event. The Knoxville Hospital & Clinics’ will also have a booth and will be giving away ice cream and cookie sandwiches to all kids participating in the event.
