A quartet of Central College women’s soccer players were in Central America last month for nine days to take part in the Fifth Annual Costa Rica Soccer Tour with Beyond Sports.

Midfielders Olivia Denham, Kalee Findlay and Lauryn Kramer, as well as junior defender Jackie Sunderman of Pella, represented Central on the tour.

The team was made up of American college students and was chosen based on statistical leaders and all-conference recognition as well as coaches’ recommendations.

The nine-day experience included three games against Costa Rican club teams. Additionally, the American players helped at two service learning clinics coaching local youth.

The American squad was coached by Jeff Parker, who has been the head coach at Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey for the last 16 years.
