The Marion County Historical Society and Iowa State Savings Bank are bringing a day of patriotic history to Marion County.

On Saturday, June 10th “Salute to Freedom” will be held at the Marion County Park in Knoxville from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day will being with a flag raising at 7 a.m. and will include the SW Army Re-enactors group of the Civil War which will be conducting camp drills, a fashion show, skirmishes and more. The Lion’s Club Pancake and Sausage breakfast will also be held and will take place from 7 to 10:30. Other attractions that will be part of the event include various vendors, bake sale in the General Store and a program on Marion County Coal Mining by Doug Wilson at 2:00 in School House. The day in patriotic history is free and open to the public.
