Bike riders gathered on the Tulip Toren to test their endurance while raising funds for a cause.
The 2nd Annual Tour de Toren ended Saturday afternoon after members of the Pella Triathlon Club, their friends, and family pedaled on stationary bikes at different points throughout the day. A goal of 2,680 miles was set, or the distance between Los Angeles and The White House in Washington D.C.
Josh Cowman with Bethany Christian Services also completed a marathon on a treadmill after riding on his bike, and told KNIA/KRLS–while he was running, that the effort was for a worthy cause.
It’s a cause our entire group has come and gotten behind because of the work they are doing with expectant parents and basically trying to help families in need, and that takes funds and money to do, so we believe pretty strongly in what they are doing and want to support them anyway we can,” he says.
At the event, Bethany staff announced they were approaching their $30,000 goal, with a final total to be announced in the coming weeks.
