Both the Pella baseball and softball teams will try to bounce back from lopsided losses Monday when they head to Newton tonight for Little Hawkeye Conference action.

The Lady Dutch were beaten 8-2 by the Warriors, and currently stand at 3-10 overall and 0-4 in league play.

Coach Robin Llewellyn is rotating between about a dozen players, and shuffling her lineup on a game-to-game basis still trying to find the right mix.

“We create our lineups based on who’s going to put the ball in play and score us some runs. Defense helps and they maneuver around a little bit to help us out depending on what the lineup is for offense. We’re excited to have the versatility that we do with the girls being able to play numerous positions, but it just kind of depends on who’s putting the bats together.”

Tonight’s softball contest is a doubleheader starting at 6:00 in Newton. Trevor Castle will call game two of the twinbill live on 92.1 KRLS, with first pitch at approximately 7:30.

The Little Dutch baseball team, who fell to 4-4 and 1-3 with a 20-5 loss to Norwalk on Monday, will also play a doubleheader at Newton tonight. First pitch is slated for 5:30.
