The City of Pella Parks Department is reminding the community to use caution as they drive near city trucks.

Pella has over 120 street side beds on Washington, Main Street and Franklin street. Planting of the street side beds with annuals for 2017 will be completed by the end of the week, however, staff will still need to water these beds on a regular basis to keep them healthy and growing. When there is little or no rain and hot weather, City of Parks staff water the beds several times per week using two water trucks, with employees along side the vehicle wearing safety vests and the water trucks are equipped with flashing safety lights.

They ask that drivers slow down when they see those trucks and give staff plenty of room when passing. With the hot weather in the forecast, city crews expect to be out on the weekends as well.
