A 3D Printing company has moved to Pella. Agile Manufacturing held a grand opening Friday at their new facility on West 10th Street.

Company President Richard Smeenk tells KNIA/KRLS News the expansion in Pella provides a wide range of services for 3D printing applications.

“Agile is an additive manufacturing company, also known as 3D printing, and we provide engineering services to anybody that develops or manufactures a product,” Smeenk says.”So the imput is a 3D CAD design, and the output is a physical model.”

“We take a virtual model and turn it into reality.”

Pella Branch General Manager Dennis Fogle says there is a wide range of materials and projects that can be accomplished with current technology.

“The input to the machines would be a solid model, three-dimensionally made in computer aid drafting, or it could be CAT scan data,” he says. ”

The Pella City Council approved an economic incentives package along with the Iowa Economic Development Authority to assist the Canadian-based additive manufacturer’s move into the community.
