Pella High’s Brooke Jorgensen and Lilly Roozeboom have each been named to the Des Moines Register’s All-Iowa girls tennis elite team.

Jorgensen finished third at the class 1-A state meet last weekend, beating her teammate Roozeboom in the consolation final. Roozeboom is a senior-to-be and Jorgensen is a junior-to-be, meaning that both will be back next year.

In fact, the Lady Dutch will have six key returners next season, and Coach Josh McCollam is excited about that, as you’d expect any coach to be.

“Bringing all of that talent and experience back for next year, we’ll have a lot of seniors next year in our top six. So they’ve been there and the know the long season. Once you get past the regular season, the postseason grind is a long two extra weeks of practice and you need to maintain that focus. I’ll be relying on those girls to help maintain that focus for the girls who haven’t been there.”

In addition to Jorgensen and Roozeboom, Bronwyn Metcalf and Cecily Johnson qualified as a state doubles team this year and will both be seniors next year, and fellow senior-to-be Patience Dykstra and junior-to-be Hannah Blom return with significant experience.
