The city of Knoxville has informed local businesses the city will not be placing trash receptacles along Highway 14 during the Knoxville Nationals.

City Manager Aaron Adams tells KNIA/KRLS News the decision came from budget discussions where the Knoxville City Council felt the trash service was important but a service that should not fall on the burden of the Knoxville taxpayers. Adams adds, historically, the city has paid a $3,000 bill to provide the trash service. The city of Knoxville decided it would be appropriate to inform private property owners of their responsibility. Because of the change the city doesn’t want garbage to be an issue during the Nationals.
