The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in special session Friday.

They approved a letter of offer to Bonnie Stalzer to serve as Director of Senior Nutrition at a salary of $45,000. They also began a discussion of whether or not the program should continue as a stand-alone program, or come under the direction of Public Health. Stalzer and Marion County Public Health Director Kim Dorn will discuss the pros and cons of each arrangement, should Stalzer accept the position. Stalzer will also serve on the Aging Resources Advisory Commission should she accept employment.

The Supervisors also formed a committee to address the role of the Maintenance Department in relation to individual department responsibilities with respect to maintenance. They considered a request from the IMPACT Community Action Agency to assist with overhead, but no action was taken. They authorized Environmental Health to spend up to $1,000 in planning for the upgrade to the Marion County Care Facility Lagoon and Septic System Project, and asked the department to consider the possibility of a septic systems as an alternative to a lagoon system in the Attica/Pershing area sewer project.
