Pella Christian went 1-1 at its home tournament Saturday, finishing in second place. The Eagles beat Tipton 9-1, then lost to Gilbert 6-2.

In game one, Will Dembski started the scoring with an RBI hit to score Isaac Vander Hart in the first inning, then he came home himself on a passed ball.

Dembski added an RBI triple to score Lawson Bruxvoort in the third, then scored on a wild pitch. The Eagles scored six runs in the third inning all together, with Vander Hart’s double finishing the scoring.

Mac Sarver got the win on the mound, and Devin Haveman earned a three inning save.

Gilbert jumped on top in the championship game, 1-0, with the Eagles tying the score on an RBI single by Scott Haveman that plated younger brother Devin. Cole Webster’s hit scored the elder Haveman, giving PC the lead.

The Tigers then scored three times in the top of the fourth to reclaim the advantage, and tacked on two more in the sixth for the final margin.

Pella Christian is now 10-11 on the season. The Eagles host Norwalk Monday night, with both the baseball and softball teams playing the Warriors on Eagle Lane.
