Pella’s baseball team looks to get back to .500 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, while the Lady Dutch hope to snap a four game skid when they each host Newton tonight.

The Pella softball team sits at 5-21 overall and 2-13 in the LHC. While the results haven’t necessarily been there in the win / loss column, head coach Robin Llewellyn is seeing improvement the second time through the league schedule, and she says that rare off days that have allowed for extra practice time this week have definitely helped.

“It’s nice to be able to settle in and really start zeroing in on those key aspects of the game that we really truly want to improve on, and just see how it goes. We’ve got some bodies that need to heal a little bit and some arms that are getting sore, and that’s what happens when you have such a full packed schedule, especially with all of these doubleheaders and what not.”

Tonight’s softball contest between Pella and Newton is a ninth / jayvee / varsity tripleheader starting at 4:30.

Baseball is a jayvee / varsity doubleheader starting at 5:30. The Little Dutch are 12-11 overall, and 7-8 in the LHC. You can hear the varsity game live on 92.1 KRLS with Andrew Schneider on the play-by-play, with first pitch at approximately 7:30.
