With an explosive six-run first inning and a big insurance run in the 7th, the Pella Christian softball team completed the sweep over DCG 8-5 in a game heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

Brooke Mitrisin’s seventh inning home run gave enough pad to Emma Schnell in the final three outs. The Eagles needed a start from freshman Cheyenne Collins, who went the distance Head Coach Karen Harrill wanted to keep her ace fresh.

The Fillies scored in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th as part of their comeback attempt. Ivy Terpstra and Amanda Harrill each had two RBI in game two. The Eagles won 6-0 in game one 6-0. Schnell earned both wins in the circle, tossing 11 innings over the two games, striking out eight and giving up one earned run. She also had six hits on offense.

Pella Christian’s baseball team was victorious in game one 3-1 and fell in game two 5-0 to earn a series win over the Mustangs. Scott Haveman earned the W on the mound in game one, shutting out DCG in five innings.

Pella Christian’s softball team is now 22-5 on the season and 14-4 to stay in 1st in the conference, while the boys are 12-15. The softball team is heading to Norwalk tonight, the boys are off until Wednesday at Newton, which can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
