Lizzy Van Manen’s 10th home run of the year helped Pella Christian complete a doubleheader sweep of Norwalk last night and keep pace in the Little Hawkeye Conference softball standings.

The Eagles won the opener 3-1, then rallied to win the nightcap 8-7. They trailed that game 6-1 after four innings, but got four in the fifth and a three-run blast from Van Manen in the seventh for the comeback victory.

Pella Christian is 24-5 on the season and 16-4 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Indianola is 14-4, tied in the loss column with the Eagles. While Pella Christian has just one league game remaining, tonight at Newton, the Indians will play Oskaloosa tonight and then finish with two against Newton next Monday.

Pella Christian’s baseball team will join the girls tonight in Newton, with each squad playing a jayvee / varsity doubleheader. You can hear the baseball game live on 92.1 KRLS with Trevor Castle on the call. First pitch is at approximately 7:30.
