Both of the Tulip City baseball teams are in action tonight, with the Eagles making up a rain out to close out Little Hawkeye Conference action, and the Little Dutch playing a non-conference contest.

Pella Christian is 9-11 in the LHC, currently tied for fourth with Norwalk. The Eagles will play at Newton tonight, while the Warriors have one game left on the schedule against conference champion Indianola that likely will not be rescheduled.

That means that a win tonight puts Pella Christian in fourth place for the season, while a loss drops them to fifth.

As the Eagles prepare for the postseason, which starts on Saturday, Coach Jeff Bruxvoort says that they’ve spent time recently working on their hitting approach and putting the ball in play.

“We play in a conference in which not many errors are made, and we don’t know what that’s going to be like when district play starts. One thing we’ve emphasized with our guys is that we’re not able to put any pressure on the opponent if we don’t put the ball in play.”

Tonight’s matchup between Pella Christian and Newton is a jayvee / varsity affair starting at 5:30 in Newton.

Meanwhile, the Pella High baseball team is back at it tonight as well with jayvee / varsity action. The Little Dutch are at Ballard, with jayvee also starting at 5:30.
