Today we continue the countdown of the Top 10 sports stories of the 2016-2017 school year at Central College with number eight.

The Dutch hired two new coaches this past year, both of whom will see their first action at Central in the upcoming school year.

On April 14th, Jeanne Czipri, who piloted Dominican University of Illinois to a pair of NCAA Division III tournament berths, was named the new volleyball coach at Central College.

She replaces Kent Clayberg, who left the highly regarded Dutch program in January after 19 seasons, including 15 as head coach.

On May 3rd, Joe Steinkamp was named to the top post in the women’s basketball program. A 2003 Central graduate, Steinkamp severed for 11 years as assistant men’s basketball coach, helping lead the Dutch to two Iowa Conference titles and three NCAA Division III tournament berths.

He replaces Chelsea Petersen, who resigned after four years as head coach.
